The climate change story we don't hear or see is the story in the Torres Strait. Climate change is real and it is happening here right now in our own backyard.
Our people have always known the importance of building relationships and doing things together. It’s always been about a collective.
Our connection to the natural world and the relationships and kinship systems provide a sense of responsibility and stewardship to protect and sustainably utilise all of what has been put on this earth for us.
Our families depend on the land and sea for our economic development and for our sustainable livelihoods as we move ahead into the future.
"My message to the government is to invest. Invest in looking after our natural environment. Invest in our people and for our future because my home is your home."

What we are noticing are the devastating impacts of climate change.
With huge tides, sea level rise and coastal erosion. We contribute the least but we are affected the worst. It is felt everyday.
It is crucial we act on climate change now.
